Wayne Strayer is an Economist in the Texas office of Welch Consulting. As a consultant and expert witness, Dr. Strayer has conducted statistical and economic analyses in cases involving claims of discrimination in a variety of employment practices, and in cases involving claims of wage and hour violations. He has also evaluated claims of economic damage due to alleged uncompetitive practices in business disputes.
Dr. Strayer has a Ph.D. in economics from The Ohio State University. His research examines the relationship between earnings and education, the roles of race and ability in education attainment, and other topics related to labor markets. His research has been published in the Journal of Labor Economics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Journal of Human Resources. Prior to joining Welch Consulting, Dr. Strayer was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Texas A&M University where he taught courses in microeconomics and econometrics.
