Robert B. Speakman
Bryan, TX

Rob Speakman is an Economist in the Bryan, Texas office of Welch Consulting.  Dr. Speakman’s work has been relied upon in mediation and litigation settings to assess whether the requirements for class certification have been met, whether the data support an inference of illegal discrimination in any particular employment practice, and the amount of potential damages but for the alleged discrimination. In addition, Dr. Speakman has performed statistical audits outside of litigation relating to these same employment practices for companies under investigation by the OFCCP or EEOC, for companies wanting to assess and minimize the risk of future litigation and for companies wanting to assess whether their employees are receiving fair treatment.

Dr. Speakman has a Ph.D. in economics from Texas A&M University. His academic research focuses on the relationship between school quality and earnings and he has taught courses in microeconomic theory at Texas A&M University. An economist with Welch Consulting since 1995, Dr. Speakman has extensive experience using various statistical methods to examine the outcomes of employment practices including pay, promotion, demotion, hiring, termination, mass reductions in force, and lost earnings calculations in wages and hours claims. With the exception of wages and hours claims, these comparisons typically examine differences in treatment between men and women, between minorities and whites, and between younger and older employees.
