Hyowook Chiang is an Economist in the Los Angeles office of Welch Consulting. With Welch Consulting, Dr. Chiang has performed statistical and economic analyses in cases involving gender, race, and age discrimination claims and wage and hours cases. His recent experience includes analysis of performance evaluations and compensation for a nationwide retail company with regard to gender, race, and age; analysis of allegations of gender discrimination against an international investment bank and a global software company; misclassification claims among claims representatives at a nationwide insurance company; and wage and hour allegations against a nationwide delivery company.
Dr. Chiang received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland. Before joining Welch Consulting, he was an Economist at the Longitudinal Employer Household Dynamics (LEHD) program at the U.S. Census Bureau and an analyst with the Bank of Korea. He was an instructor of economic statistics and intermediate macroeconomics at the University of Maryland. His research “The Effect of HRM Practices and R&D Investment on Worker Productivity” (co-authored) is published in the book “The Analysis of Firms and Employees: Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches" (2008).
