Doug Owens is an Economist in the Washington, D.C. office of Welch Consulting. His work is focused on the statistical analysis claims of employment discrimination. He has assisted with large class action cases and single plaintiff cases, involving claims of discrimination based on age, race, national origin, and gender. He has also assisted with wage and hours litigation and disputes over the implementation of union contract rules.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in economics from Tulane University, his Master's Degree in Economics from Texas A&M University, and he advanced to candidacy for a Ph.D. in Economics at Texas A&M University. His research has been published in the journals Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, American Journal of Economics and Sociology, and Southern Economic Journal, as well as in the books Advances in Airline Economics and Perspectives on Gambling, Lotteries, Wagers, and Casinos.
