Amy Aukstikalnis is a Senior Economist in the Los Angeles office of Welch Consulting. Dr. Aukstikalnis has more than 10 years experience working as a consulting economist inside and outside of the litigation arena and as expert testifying witness in employment litigation matters. Her experience with Welch Consulting includes statistical analysis of employment practices for adverse impact in discrimination cases for companies in a variety of industries, evaluation of economic damages in hiring, promotion, medical malpractice/personal injury and wrongful termination cases and analysis of wage and hour claims. She has testified in state and federal courts, and in mediation settings, regarding statistics, mitigation and economic damages in single plaintiff, multi-plaintiff and class action matters.
Dr. Aukstikalnis received her Ph.D. in economics and M.B.A. from the University of Houston where she specialized in labor economics and applied econometrics. Before joining Welch Consulting, Dr. Aukstikalnis was employed as an economist for the Workers Compensation Research Institute in Cambridge Massachusetts, where she directed research studies related to current issues in worker compensations systems and, prior to that, as an analyst for the Business Operations Analysis group within AT&T Bell Laboratories. She taught several courses in microeconomics at the University of Houston and conducted research on, among other things, race and gender differences in the job turnover behavior of young workers. She is a member of the American Economic Association and the Society of Labor Economists.
